Chris Kyle was called “The Devil by his enemies and “The Legend” by his Navy Seal Brothers. From 1999 to 2009, Chris Kyle recorded the most sniper kills in the United States Military history. His enemies placed a bounty on his head if he was killed. Kyle protected his comrades of the United States Army, Marines, and Seals with deadly accuracy from roof tops and stealth positions. Chris Kyle’s account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences rates as one of the great war memoirs of all time.

Kyle grew up in Texas where in learned to shoot by his father who took him on hunting trips with him. Kyle was also a champion saddle-bronc rider before joining the Navy. After 911, he was placed on the fronts lines of the “War of Terror.” There he found his calling as a world class sniper who performed best under fire. Kyle recorded a personal record, 2,100 yard kill shot outside Baghdad in Fallujah. In the book, American Sniper talks also about the pain of war. He was shot twice and witnesses the tragic deaths of two of his close friends.

American Sniper honors Kyle’s fellow warriors. They apparently raised hell on and off the battlefield. Chris Kyle also writes about his wife Taya. He admitted how difficult his focus on the war was on his marriage and his family. He took in to account the personal strain the battle field put on his life.

From 1974 – 2013, Kyle served four combat tours In Operation Iraqi Freedom and elsewhere. He was awarded two Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars with Valor, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation. He also received the Grateful Nation Award given by the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs. Chief Kyle is survived by his wife and their two children.

American Sniper is a very deeply personal book. It is the best eyewitness account of war that any man could write. Amazing book! An amazing American Hero! I cannot say enough good about the book or the man. It is a must read!
